Smithfield Foundation Scholarship

First established in 2002, the Smithfield Foundation is a nonprofit organization that acts as the philanthropic
wing of Smithfield Foods. Since its inception, the Smithfield Foundation has been proud to provide
educational scholarships to the dependent children and grandchildren of our full-time and retired employees.
Employees must have worked with the company a minimum of 18 months for their dependent child or
grandchild to be eligible.

These scholarships are now available at the following 15 colleges and universities: Christopher Newport
University, Fayetteville State University, Hampden-Sydney College, Iowa State University, Johnson and Wales
University, Kansas State University, Norfolk State University, NC State University, North Carolina A&T, Paul D.
Camp Community College, Radford University, University of Missouri, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Virginia
Tech, and Virginia Union.

Recipients of the Smithfield Foundation scholarship must maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA to remain
eligible. Students must also submit a letter to the Smithfield Foundation at the beginning of each school year
to give an update on their educational achievements and goals.

Please use this application to apply for the Smithfield Foundation Scholarship. Your application should
be submitted to the school you are planning to attend no later than April 15, and you should receive
notification of scholarship selection from the school no later than June 30. Specific instructions for
submitting this application to each school, as well as additional program information, are available at www.
